White Light and Tactical Impact Devices

The use of white light has become an integral part of Self Preservation Training at The CSPT. White light is very important in Threat Recognition. Light is needed at night in dark parking lots, dimly lit streets, parking garages etc. You may need to light up the exterior of your home when arriving late at night. It can also be useful in public buildings during power failures.

Modern light units are very small and very powerful. They can easily fit in your pocket or purse. The lights made by SUREFIRE have been largely unmarketed to the public until now. They have been used by special operators in military and law enforcement for years. EMS and rescue teams use them as well.

The personal combat lights throw an extremely bright, focused beam of light a great distance. Much farther than your average flashlight. This allows the operator to evaluate dark areas in your environment from a fair distance.

The lights are so bright that they can cause a momentary blindness when directed at someone's eyes. The effects have been described as everything from a distraction to blinding.

The lights are rated in Lumens and they generally run from 50 Lumens to 125 Lumens in the personal combat lights. Some lights can be upgraded from 65 Lumens to 125 Lumens simply by switching the lamp. Some models have dual source lights with a low intensity LED and a high intensity bulb which can be changed back and forth with the push of the tailcap.

They run on lithium batteries and SureFire batteries have a shelf life of 10 years.

SureFire has developed lights with a "defensive forend" on them. This jagged forend serves as an impact device. It is an integral part of the light, not an aftermarket add-on. It makes the SureFire light a serious self defense tool for those who understand fighting with impact weapons.

The SureFire M3 Combat Light

GG&G in AZ. has developed a Tactical Impact Device for the SureFire lights that do not have the new forends. Their TID is a wicked device that attaches seamlessly to the front of a SureFire light with a few set screws.

The GG&G TID adds a slight bit of weight to the light. This is potentially beneficial as it adds some heft to the light.

These lights are great for all types of regular and emergency uses. They are more expensive than your average consumer flahlights. They range in price from $34.00 to $392.00 and are well worth every penny.

The Tactical Impact devices from GG&G range from $40.00 - $46.00 ea.
