In September 2005, a group of eight instructors from four different national academy and field training sites within the Department of Homeland Security trained with Demi Barbito. Our agency was searching for material for our Edged Weapon Defense program.
Demi and his training have heavily influenced our program. After working with Demi, we changed from static striking drills to very dynamic drills giving the officers practice at footwork and greater target acquisition. He has added to our control tactics with better leverage techniques for takedowns that also blend into our edged weapon counter tactics. His training stands up against progressive resistance and gives confidence in the training. Although Demi has tremendous knowledge and experience with multiple martial arts disciplines and other combat systems, he only gives you what works. I have no doubt that our program is one of the best in the nation because of working with Demi. I highly recommend Mr. Barbito as a source of knowledge that is not biased by martial art, sport, or fad.

I just wanted to say thanks for the thought provoking, unconventional
information you keep on your website. I have often felt the exact same
way as you and have felt like I was either crazy or an outcast because
no one else thinks freely or questions those they look up to or aspire
to be. Your unconventional approach is ground breaking and a wonderful
thing. If you receive any negative feedback, it is probably because the
majority of the martial arts world is not ready for this kind of
thinking or training (or they are super concerned about job security -
so they brainwash!). Anyways, I just took approximately half of my day
off @ work (programming becomes tedious sometimes) to read your website
almost in its entirety and I feel much stronger and smarter after just
reading it. Hopefully one day I will be able to train with you - I
live in Carlsbad, ca so there is sort of a distance issue. Well, I just
wanted to drop a line to say thanks and to KEEP ON posting info on your
site. It is revolutionary man - you have already made a difference in
my life and I have only read your thoughts and info for a couple of
hours!

I have to tell you again that your unarmed DVD in particular is among
the best I've seen. My wife was working at the computer while I
watched the video and I remarked to her how refreshing it was to see
such a well-done program. The only criticism I can make, really, is a
very minor one -- you talk quite fast. The only reason I noticed this
is because it is something *I* do too and don't notice. Unlike some
instructors you are very comfortable and engaging on camera, though, so
this is a minor quibble that does not detract from the video(s). Even
the background colors were very good (something that is hard to do) --
nice cool blues and grays that werent' too busy and contrasted nicely
with the action.

FFwF is absolutely a must see for anyone interested in mixing OC in
with their overall training. I liked how you kept it simple and
alive. The way you integrated the legal issues involved with OC was
nice as well to give the bigger picture on self defense. Most
instructors just show physical violence without concern for the before
and after, or the totality of events that surround the encounter.
Top notch production values, too!

I watched Firepower again for the third time this weekend, Killing
Giants and Total Mobilization...First rate job!! I real did enjoy them
and it has motivated me to start training again.
